Well, this seems familiar – you’re done loading the car for your upcoming trip when you suddenly realise there’s no more room for the passengers. Luckily, a rooftop cargo box provides precious extra space to the passenger compartment, and installing it has been made easy with the help of Hoyla Tools Car Door Step.

When going away for a trip, it’s easy to forget that in addition to all the luggage, it might be a good idea to fit in the passengers, as well. What makes it challenging is that usually at this point the car is already fully loaded with various bags and a few coolers, and fitting your friends and family in between is similar to a game of Tetris.

But not all hope is lost! A rooftop cargo box is your knight in shining armour, allowing you to store all those space-consuming equipment and other items to the roof of your car, so they won’t cause a riot in the passenger compartment. However, you should be careful when installing the cargo box so that no unpleasant surprises occur while you’re driving – as in, you look in the rear view mirror and find the box rolling down the highway. Hoyla Tools Car Door Step, available as a one or two feet model, will help you. Here’s how.

Step-by-step guide

  1. When choosing a cargo box, keep in mind the size and amount of gear you want to carry, as well as whether or not you require the box to be weatherproof.
  2. Check the maximum amount of cargo your vehicle can carry. Keep in mind that the cargo box itself might weigh more than 20 kg (44 lbs).
  3. Strapping down the box differs slightly depending which carrier type you choose, but they’re all pretty simple. Make sure to install your box on the roof before loading cargo into it.
  4. Use Hoyla Tools car door step to help you reach the roof of your vehicle, making sure you’ll be able to secure the box properly. The door step is available as a one or two foot model.
  5. Check regularly that the cargo box is tightly secured to the roof track, as the motion of the moving car might slowly loosen up the strappings.
  6. Take your time. Read the instructions. You don’t want to half-ass this, as the consequences of a loose cargo box on the highway might be quite dire.

All set? Great! Now let’s get ready for that trip – after all, traveling is a lot more fun with your friends and family.

Like all younglings, trees need extra support in the early stages of their lives, too.

Staking a newly planted tree using a support kit is essential for the tree to form a solid root system, and to get an upright start to its journey to new heights. Tree support kits also make sure the seedlings stay firmly in place even in strong winds.

Traditional tree support kits consist of two stakes that support the seedling from only two directions, making the seedlings more exposed to storm winds and slanted growth. Especially for larger seedlings and trees planted in windy places, it would be ideal if they could be supported from several different directions.

Here’s how to properly stake a tree

  1. Support the tree up to 1/3 of its height.
  2. Sink the stakes on the sides of the planting pit. Make sure the stakes don’t damage the roots.
  3. Tie the trunk and the support together with a tying wire at two points – four, if the seedling is larger or it’s planted in a windy location. Don’t tie the wires too tightly to avoid damaging the trunk.
  4. In spring and autumn, check that the support is still supporting the tree and the tying wires don’t strangle the trunk.
  5. Keep the tree supported for up to 3 years, after which the tree is strong enough to stand upright on its own. The support can also be used longer with larger seedlings or in windy places.

If you want to sleep peacefully at night and not think about which direction your trees are leaning after every gust of wind, we recommend using the Hoyla Tools Tree Support Kit for staking your seedlings. With the support, the trees can be tied from four different directions, thus significantly reducing the tree’s swaying in the wind. The frame surrounding the support ensures that the supports stay at a proper distance from the tree and don’t start leaning against each other.

Though making firewood is something many of us take a lot of pride in, not many want to make the task unnecessarily hard. Hoyla Tools Kindling Splitter is a safer alternative to the traditional axe, and the splitter stays in working order with minimal maintenance.

Well, there it is. A cold fireplace and a towering pile of wood to be chopped. A memory buried deep inside raises its head, reminding you of the last time you chopped wood in the pouring rain, and your back starts to protest. However, there’s no running away from responsibility anymore, as the fireplace needs kindling. Seriously, isn’t there a better way to do this?

Glad you asked! Even though making firewood is something many of us take a lot of pride in, not many want to make the task unnecessarily hard. So let us introduce you to the Hoyla Tools Kindling Splitter.

Safety first

The Kindling Splitter is the solution when you want to make firewood safely and quickly without having to use an axe. Another log, a hammer, or a mallet can be used to help with splitting, so there’s no need for sharp objects and trips to the ER anymore.

Despite its safety and ease of use, it’s always best to be well prepared when making kindling, even when using the Kindling Splitter.

How to split wood using the Kindling Splitter:

  1. Plan the job in advance – make sure there’s sufficient working space around you, and that you’re wearing protective clothing.
  2. Place the Kindling Splitter on an appropriate working platform and a suitable height, such as a log or wall. Use bolts to help secure the splitter in place.
  3. Place the log in the middle of the blade and take a firm position. Use a blunt object, such as another log or a mallet, to help with splitting. It’s safest to chop logs along the grain of the wood.
  4. Stack the freshly made kindling in a Firewood Rack to dry and wait for use.
  5. Enjoy the extra free time the Kindling Splitter so kindly gives you.

Gosh, it’s so beautiful to watch.

In addition to the Kindling Splitter, Hoyla Tools offers a compact Kindling Axe that can also help you split wood effectively and safely. Learn more about our Kindling Axe here.

Now let’s get splitting!
